Is It Bad To Have A Smoothie Everyday?

Yes and No …

Smoothies are a great way to get a healthy dose of vitamins, minerals and nutrients into your body. However, if you love getting your smoothie hit each morning, make sure you watch your portion size.

People often make the mistake of drinking a large glass of freshly made smoothie each day, thinking they’re making a healthy decision. And, whilst smoothies can be a healthy choice, it is important to limit your smoothie intake to 150ml per day (source).

If you are rushed for time and like to grab a smoothie from the supermarket, remember to look at the number of mls on the ingredients list. Most big brands sell smoothies which “look” small, but actually contain 250ml per container. It’s easy to assume 250ml is a healthy daily intake because the big brands are producing ‘quick’ ‘grabbable’ smoothie products (but it’s not). Don’t be fooled, stick to just 150ml smoothies each day.

Smoothies are often packed full of fruit, which has a high sugar content (fructose). Drinking smoothies results in a rapid sugar uptake, because the process of making the smoothie has lead to the breakdown of fiber.

If you want to make sure your smoothie creations stay healthy, take a look at this healthy smoothie recipe book over on Amazon. It is packed full of 80 different healthy smoothies to blitz up. The author has been super helpful, because they’ve listed the carbs, calories, protein, fat, fibre and 5-a-day fruit & vegetable values. I find these useful, because you can pick the healthy smoothie that suits you best. Included in this book are 10 recipes that are kept to under 50 calories each, so you can have a yummy smoothie and not worry about the calorie intake. Bonus!

Is Blending Bananas Bad For You?

Are you worrying that blending bananas is bad for you? … Don’t!

Bananas make a great smoothie on their own, but they are also great when blended with other tasty fruits and berries.

You will often find bananas are used as the base ingredient to many smoothies. Why? Because bananas are one of the most popular fruits in existence! They are super great for aiding weight loss because they are packed full of fiber, which keeps you feeling fuller for longer. The humble banana will also help to moderate your blood sugar levels (source), and slow the process of your stomach emptying (source), thus reducing your appetite.
