Creamy Tarragon Chicken

Cooking has always been a passion of mine. So, when I created the KGS fitness blog focussed upon home workouts, I thought it would be good to share my healthy recipes with you too. Why? Because getting fit and healthy isn’t only about exercising, it is also important to be aware of the food you put into your mouth.
The tarragon sauce has been created from a combination of chicken stock, butter, cornflour, onions, tarragon, and 0% Fat Greek yoghurt.
This classic French dish usually contains double cream and white wine, so you maybe wondering where those expected ingredients are hiding. The answer is that I deliberately excluded them from this recipe, to make the dish healthier. Don’t worry though, the taste has not been impacted by removing these ingredients. The dish tastes incredibly divine, you’ve just got to try it!
To achieve the creamy taste, I used Greek Yoghurt, which is packed full of protein to help you feel fuller, for longer. It is also a great addition to your diet if you are trying to build muscle.
If you do not have any cornflour in your pantry, use normal plain flour. I added cornflour into this recipe, to make my creamy tarragon chicken recipe gluten free.

What To Serve With this Creamy Tarragon Chicken Recipe
Our tarragon chicken is covered with cheesy mustard mash, so you won’t need to add anymore potatoes in the dish. The tarragon sauce is also incredibly tasty, so you may or may not wish to include more vegetables. The decision is entirely up to you. I personally like including green vegetables as a side dish, because it adds colour to the meal, and gives me an extra boost of vitamins and nutrients.
My recipe works well with the following vegetable side dishes:
- Steamed tenderstem broccoli
- Carrot sticks
- Green beans
Tarragon Sauce Without Cream
Absolutely! Yes yes yes!
Most people hear the word “creamy” and are convinced that the creamy taste and texture can only be achieved by adding, you guessed it … ‘cream’! I’m here to tell you that this isn’t the case anymore.
My tarragon sauce doesn’t use a drop of cream. Instead, I used 5 scoops of 0% Fat Greek Yoghurt (based upon a dish serving of 4/5 people). This is a great alternative, and far healthier too.
